OVERVIEW:
First impressions matter—whether it’s the design aesthetic, lighting, or the acoustic comfort of a space. At the new Kāinga Ora front reception, hard flooring and expansive glazing had created a highly reverberant environment, causing sound to bounce throughout the space and making it feel echoey and uncomfortable for both staff and visitors.
Recognising the need for a solution that was both functional and visually engaging, the Insight Creative team approached OneFrame to deliver a system that could address multiple challenges simultaneously. The answer: a fully customised Resonate™ Acoustic Fabric System that not only provided effective sound absorption, but also doubled as a medium for branded communication and lifestyle imagery.
With an impressive Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC) of 0.75, the Resonate™ system significantly reduced ambient noise and echo, creating a calmer, more welcoming environment. The acoustic panels were custom-printed to display Kāinga Ora’s vision statement alongside a vibrant lifestyle image—blending performance and storytelling into one seamless installation.
One of the key advantages of Resonate™ is its ability to wrap entire surfaces—walls, hallways, boardrooms, and more—up to 3 metres high and 50 metres wide—without any join lines or seams. The system is also designed for flexibility: graphics can be updated or replaced with ease, allowing future messaging changes with minimal disruption.
Additionally, the Resonate™ system can be installed directly over existing wall surfaces, eliminating the need for plastering, sanding, or painting—saving both time and cost during construction or refurbishment.
This project is a strong example of how multifunctional design can elevate both the form and function of a space—solving acoustic challenges while reinforcing brand identity in a practical, scalable way.
