OVERVIEW:
In a setting where patient comfort and staff wellbeing are paramount, Focusplan sought to introduce both colour and calm into the Auckland Radiation Oncology Clinic. To help achieve this, OneFrame was engaged to deliver a series of bespoke architectural elements that balanced technical precision with visual serenity.
Central to the design was the specification of the Lunar™ Stretched Ceiling System. OneFrame developed a custom ‘frame within a frame’ solution, allowing the CT machine to descend seamlessly through the central cavity while maintaining an uninterrupted view of a tranquil blue sky graphic above the patient. This thoughtful detail provides a soothing visual focus, helping reduce patient anxiety during procedures by transforming the clinical ceiling into a calming, immersive feature.
To further enhance the healing environment, Focusplan also specified a Lucent™ Fabric Wall Lightbox, spanning floor to ceiling and featuring a vibrant panoramic image of the Auckland cityscape. The vivid backlit display brings both light and local identity into the treatment space—offering a moment of visual escape for patients and contributing to an uplifting atmosphere for staff.
OneFrame worked in close consultation with Focusplan throughout the project, providing technical design support that complemented—rather than altered—the original design intent. Once final approvals were in place, all components were manufactured in-house at OneFrame’s integrated production facility, allowing for meticulous quality control across every stage of fabrication.
This project reflects the power of well-considered design and collaboration, where fabric architecture, custom lighting, and local imagery come together to create a clinical space that feels warmer, brighter, and more human.
