OVERVIEW:

TOA Architects engaged OneFrame to deliver a fully bespoke illuminated ceiling feature within the Auckland Art Gallery office lounge — a solution designed to elevate the spatial experience while delivering high-performance lighting outcomes.

The brief required a recessed ceiling system capable of providing both ambient and task lighting, without compromising the clean architectural language of the space. In response, OneFrame developed a precision-engineered aluminium framing system paired with the CLIPSO Grand Format Stretched Fabric System, enabling a completely seamless illuminated surface free from joins, shadow lines, or visual interruption.

Utilising CLIPSO’s translucent fabric membrane, the system achieves exceptional light diffusion, delivering soft, even illumination across the entire ceiling plane. The result is a balanced lighting environment that enhances occupant comfort while maintaining high functional performance.

As a vertically integrated manufacturer, OneFrame fabricated and assembled the complete system in-house — including frame, fabric, and LED components — ensuring full quality control and consistency of output. The system was then disassembled, flat-packed, and dispatched for efficient installation, with consideration given to long-term serviceability and ease of maintenance.

The finished installation is a refined architectural feature that seamlessly integrates light, material, and form — demonstrating how CLIPSO illuminated ceiling systems can transform interior environments through both aesthetic and technical excellence.
